Carlos Hilarión and Rubiela Mogollón are co-founders of the  Professional Association of Latin American Engineers of Canada, APILC .  An organization whose objective is to try to simplify the admission process in the Order of Engineers of Quebec, to all Latin American immigrants who studied engineering in their respective countries and who must face a system whose rules are to some extent, too strict and also they are not unfortunately in their favor either. The road is long and strewn with pitfalls.

Engineers building roads for their immigrant colleagues

In Canada, more than 1,800 engineers of immigrant origin work hand in hand to help their colleagues who want to get accredited to practice their profession in the country.

Being accepted as an engineer by Canadian professional orders is not easy.

It is required, among other things, to know the system well and have the necessary information to avoid making mistakes that can make it difficult, delay or even prevent the dream of working on your job from coming true.

Ingenieros Latinos Canada is the name of the group that - in solidarity - tries to make the path to professional reintegration simpler and more successful for immigrants who studied the various engineering careers that exist in the world.

Carlos Hilarión is one of the co-founders of this group of volunteers and he spoke with Martín Movilla about what they have achieved -so far- and what remains to come.

The group of creators of Latin Engineers Canada began to take shape at the hands of a group headed by Rubiela Mogollón, Carlos Bedoya, Diego Arteaga and Carlos Hilarión.

That effort - which was dedicated to supporting primarily Latin American engineers - is now a multicultural effort in which various cultural groups are present.
